Reciklaonica:: 5 godina otpora :: b-day party

Monday, February 8th, 2016

[ENG]
These are the times when squats and autonomous spaces all around the world are experiencing a big fall due to governmental opression, strict housing laws, fascist attacks, lower and lower number of people who still have the passion and interest for this form of the struggle – so it’s of a huge importance to participate and support on your local level!

Reciklaonica is a political squat and collective based in Zagreb. Aside from it being a home for dozens of people, dogs and cats, it also gave birth to projects such as a bar/club, rehersal room, tool workshop, bike workshop, Free shop, anarcha infoshop, antifa gym, diy screeen printing lab, a permacultural garden etc. which all function on principals of solidarity without which this (or any) squat/project wouldn’t exist.

On February 11th we’ll be celebrating the 5th year of our existence:) and it wouldn’t be possible without our friends from all around the world who helped in keeping this place alive! *the part when we get all emotional haha*

We want to invite you to participate in Reciklaonica with your heart, with your skills, with your ideas… the same as we want to motivate you to squat&create something in your area.

WE WANT TO WELCOME YOU TO OUR B-DAY PARTY ON 13TH OF FEBRUARY which can also be a meeting point for some further actions. (and partyhardin’)
See ya!

WHO KILLED ELOÁ?
by Doctela (24 min)

“Who killed Eloá?” is a critical analysis of the spectacularization of violence and television’s approach in cases of violence against women, revealing one of the reasons why Brazil has the fifth highest rate of murders of women in the world.
In 2009, Lindemberg Alves, 22 years old, broke into the apartment of his ex-girlfriend Eloá Pimentel, 15 years old, with a gun, keeping her hostage for five days. The crime was widely broadcast by TV channels that vied for audience attention exploiting the ‘pain of love’ of Lindemberg and covered the kidnapping as if it was a live soap opera.

ES
by Alice Dalgalarrondo (24 min)

In the words of Bishop Macedo in his book Power Plan, God has a political plan for the faithful of the UCKG (Universal Church of the Kingdom of God) and for its evangelical allies: to rule Brazil. This project intend to depict Brazil in 2030.Starting from the idea of a dystopian future given by the fateful unfolding on the current political power framework that the Evangelical Church plays at the moment, the video, created with found footage of real absurdities, tells the history of the ES (former Brazil) and how the power plan, devised by Bishop Macedo, came to materialize.

OCCUPY THE SCHOOLS
by Jornalistas Livres (10 min)

In 2015, the government of the brazilian state of São Paulo imposed a new measure to the education system, planning to shut down 94 schools and split the education levels (elementary, middle and high school) in another 800, affecting about 300 thousand children. Students protested, but with no visibility to their cause they begun the occupying movement that changed the education experience and raised political consciousness.

Learn or teach how to sew or crochet. You can bring old clothes for repair, upgrades or exchange! By learning how to do things ourselves we can consume less and upcycle materials available around us.

Every 4th Sunday of the month we will meet at Basta and make our creative thoughts come true by reusing materials that we find around us using all kinds of tools or so called ultimate weapons against the fashion industry.

Come by any time between 2 and 8pm and join the fun!

You can bring your own tools and materials. If you don’t have it that’s ok, we have some to share (such as sewing machine, sewing tools, crocheting needles, yarn, fabrics etc.)

There will be at least one sewing machine (maybe two) ready to use.

You can bring old clothes for an exchange, repair, upgrades and so on (so many options). This time there will be some clothes available for exchange.

Let’s share our thoughts and skills and inspire each other in fabric creation.

There will be tea, coffee and some snacks.

No entrance fee – We happily accept donations for materials, snacks and drink

Plastic-free VEGGIES BAGS- DIY-workshop ♡

Tuesday, September 15th, 2015

Bananas are not happy in a plastic bag 🙁 Three hundered plastic bags are used per year on average. Lots of them are used during veggie shopping.

Fruits & veggies are heaps more happy in cotton re-usable bags 🙂 Ladies and gents, let’s get crafty for the Greater Good and produce some planet friendly VEGGIE BAGS, by re-cycling fabrics.

Plastic-Free Tuesday organizes together with DIY Workshop Amsterdam a sewing cafe at September 19th at The Basement to make some Veggie Bags to give out in local markets or vegetable stores!

1. We have got the sewing machines! What you could bring is your old fabrics à light fabrics are the best. Old curtains for example! Ask your granny’s!

2. We can learn from each other! Never worked with a sewing machine before but wanna know-how? Awesome! This is your chance. We’d love to exchange our sewing skills with you.
